BEKC 2023 Race 1 @ Burney's

Podium for the Krausse Motorsport Juniors !!!

The first race of the BEKC 2023 took place at Karting Burney’s in Mechelen on Sunday March 12th. Krausse Motorsport was represented by Lucas who finished 2nd in the BEKC 2022 last year.

The new format is one 5 min qualify and then 4 races of 10 min, where the start position of the last 3 races are determined by the fastest lap time in the previous race. Qualify resulted in a disappointing 5th place but did show the strength of the field. Lucas managed some nice overtakes and finished P3 with the 2nd fastest lap time. He could then start race 2 from P2 but at Burney’s it is hard to defend that position from P3 on the inside line. But Lucas quickly took the position back and finished again P2. In race 3 Lucas was able to keep P2 at the start and keep right on the tail of P1. But Victor Poire (Hola lulu) defended hard and without a strategic element in the race Lucas ended up P2 once more.

Race 4 was very eventful. Lucas started P2 again but P3 pushed him wide in the 2nd corner which resulted in a 3 wide scenario into the next corner, an unfortunate driver pushed out completely and Lucas barely holding on to P5. But Lucas fought back and with some great overtakes he finally finished P2 once more.

End result: a well deserved P2 for the day !!! Congratulations also to Victor for P1 and Enzo for P3. On to the next race @ Green Power Kart in Jumet on April 16th.
